In 1780, Ranjit Singh was born in Gujranwala, now in Pakistan. In 1801, Ranjit Singh was announced as the 'Maharaja of Punjab' when he was only 21. His well-trained army, the 'Khalsa army,' became the driving force of the Sikh Empire.

As one of the greatest leaders, Ranjit Singh united the Sikhs as a powerful military unit. His contribution to the victories

against the invaders of India made him a brave leader honored with the titles - of 'Sher-e-Punjab' & 'Lion of Punjab.'

After the decline of the Mughal dynasty, when Punjab and its annexed territory were torn into wars with Afghan invaders, Maharaja Ranjit Singh protected the Sikhs and founded a vast Sikh empire. As a legendary political strategist, his kindness and power won the heart of Indians.

Though he lost his eyesight in childhood and was not a so-called educated ruler, he was famous as a secular ruler. He formed a skilled & modern army, including the trained Hindu, Muslim & European soldiers, who prevented the British power from establishing their colony in Punjab in his lifetime.

Under the patronage of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Amritsar Temple became the iconic beauty of Punjab due to its glorious and artistic work with gold on marble. Besides, the world-famous diamond 'Kohinoor' was the glory of Ranjit Singh's treasure.

For being a secular ruler in his empire, all religions, Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs, used to get lots of respect in Ranjit Singh's empire. His great code of conduct, which reflects bravery, loyalty, and honesty, brought all his officials & soldiers under the umbrella of unity.

Sikh religion through his legacy. In his ruling period in Punjab, Sikhs were developed with a strong influence of Renaissance culture and artistic perspectives.

As one of the greatest military campaigners, Ranjit Singh introduced European-pattern tactics to direct his army to confront British threats. His tricks played vital roles in extending the domain of the Sikh empire over British interference.
